Summer isn’t over yet! There are still tons events happening in the city, and plenty more on the schedule for fall and winter. Have you checked out our events page? You never know what you might find in the city this weekend! There’s a lot going on, but here are a few up-and-coming events that our team is really excited about.

Cirque du Soleil: ECHO

This show will be in Calgary from August 30 to October 19, and we couldn’t be more excited. We saw KOOZA a couple years ago when the big top was in town, and it was incredible. This all new show has some modern themes. It’s a story of connection, intention, and the bond between humans and the animal kingdom. The show is a journey of life, discovery, hope, and empathy as the main characters learn how their actions have the power to shape this world. And, of course, it’s full of awe-inspiring acrobatic acts that completely defy logic—and gravity!

Rick Mercer’s Stand Up for Canada Comedy Tour

Does it get any more Canadian that a Rick Mercer comedy special? We’re ready to laugh out loud and get behind the rallying cry as this Canadian icon takes the stage on his cross-Canada tour. This night promises an unforgettable evening filled with laughter and engaging commentary on Canadian life. For those of us who grew up watching Mercer on This Hour Has 22 Minutes and The Rick Mercer Report, it’s going to be both a nostalgic blast from the past and a night filled with comedy to remember.

Spark After Dark: Gore

Do you ever wish you could go on a field trip again? Take the day off work and learn about something cool? Well Spark After Dark might not get you outta your day job, but these nights are fun, science-filled excursions for adults. We wrote about one a few years back. In October, the theme is Gore. This night explores twisted side of psychology and iconic horror moments in pop culture—and a whole lot of squishy biology in between! It’s an adults-only event, and it’s sure to get everyone in the Hallowe’en spirit!

Home Alone in Concert with the Calgary Phil

This show is a few months away, happening November 28 & 29, but years ago this was the show that first introduced us to the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and we haven’t looked back! These live screenings with the orchestra playing the score are fun for the whole family, and they’re an excellent introduction to orchestra music in a way that’s approachable. Actually, check out the entire season at Calgary Phil, they have classic nights, pop nights, films, and everything in between.

There are so many events happening in the city—from farmer’s markets to ballet to orchestra to theatre and more. Check out our events page to keep up-to-date on what’s happening! We’re excited to see new events unfold in Calgary, and we hope to see you at an upcoming event!
