The city is alive with entertainment. From music to theatre to art exhibitions, there’s something for everyone in Calgary. Here are some upcoming events happening in the city this winter and spring.

Free Art

Esker Foundation is an accessible and welcoming space for people to experience contemporary art. On until Dec 21 is Jana Sterbak: Dimensions of Intimacy, a retrospective that celebrates this Canadian artist. On until Feb 22 is Kristine Zingeler: In the Balance, an inter-disciplinary display exploring themes of interconnectedness, time, and the relentless state of flux of humanity and the planet.

Evening Entertainment

Join Werklund Centre, formerly Arts Commons, for An Evening with Yotam Ottolenghi on Feb 24. Yotam Ottolengthi is a multi-award-winning cookbook author, chef, and restaurateur. Find other entertaining shows from resident companies such as the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Theatre Calgary, One Yellow Rabbit, and more.

It’s Showtime

There are plenty of touring companies that take time for Calgary. Broadway Across Canada is featuring Moulin Rouge!, Jan 6–11, and Les Miserables from Mar 4–8. Alberta Ballet brings elegance to the stage, with performances of The Nutcracker, Dec 12–24, Romeo & Juliet, Feb 12–14, and Swan Lake, Mar 13–15.

Excellent Expos

Calgary has some great expos over the winter. Dreaming of your next vacation? Visit the YYC Travel Show on Feb 15. The famous Calgary Comics & Entertainment Expo takes place Apr 23–16. The Japanese pop culture festival, Otafest, is happening May 15–17.
