A Woman in Wildflowers
Shirley Truscott returns to Invermere with a fabulous performance about a fabulous mountain woman. This reflective dramatic portrait recounts the extraordinary personal journey of Elizabeth “Lizzie” Rummel. “Lizzie’s" humble mountain life in the towering presence of Mount Assiniboine became in itself a beautiful work of art.
Elizabeth von Rummel was born into the aristocracy of turn- of-the-century Germany. As a girl she came to Canada to spend the summers vacationing on a ranch in the Alberta foothills. Later in life, she is best remembered for running lodges in the backcountry of the Rocky Mountains where she created an enchanting, beautiful life in the wilderness for her guests. “Lizzie” loved both the mountains and the people of Canmore, Banff, Lake Louise, Skoki and Assininboine. She was a true pioneer of the mountains.
