Amazon Future Engineer Day

On Monday, November 10, TELUS Spark Science Centre will open its doors with free admission for families as part of Amazon Future Engineer Day, presented in partnership with Amazon Canada.
The full-day event (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) invites Calgary-area families and students to explore hands-on science and technology programming — from robotics and coding to live science demonstrations and music-based learning experiences.
This event celebrates the importance of accessible STEAM learning and community engagement. Last year’s Amazon Future Engineer Day welcomed more than 2,000 visitors, and this year promises to spark even more curiosity and creativity.
A highlight of the day will be Your Voice Is Power, a workshop that teaches coding and computer science by inviting participants to remix songs from Indigenous artists including Aysanabee, Jayli Wolf, Dakota Bear, and Samian. The initiative — offered in partnership with Amazon Music and TakingITGlobal — bridges music, culture, and technology in a creative way that encourages youth to see the power of code as a tool for expression and social justice.
Additional highlights include:
- Amazon Robotics display, featuring the Amazon Hercules Robot, capable of lifting over 1,000 pounds.
- Live science demonstrations running throughout the day (10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.).
- Combat robotics and FIRST Robotics scrimmages with local student teams.
It’s an opportunity for families to discover, create, and imagine together — and it’s completely free, with admission granted on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to capacity.
