Celebrate the holiday season with dazzling displays, sure to light up even the darkest days of winter.
When thinking of Christmastime in Calgary, the first thing that comes to mind for many is ZOOLIGHTS at the Wilder Institute/ Calgary Zoo. This holiday tradition has been around for 26 years and is being presented by Olympia Trust Company this year. From November 18, 2022, through January 8, 2023, the zoo will be covered top to bottom in Christmas lights, brightening the season for all who visit. Check out one of the special 18+ nights, including an Enchanted Dinner and Adults Night Out, for a romantic and festive date night!
For more holiday fun for the whole family, check out Christmas Glow Calgary on Stampede Trail. This indoor holiday event will include the Merry Makers Market, live entertainment, food and drink, family friendly activities, and of course, lights! If you don’t feel like bundling up against Calgary’s winter weather but still want to experience some Christmas magic, Glow Calgary is for you!
The Lions Festival of Lights at Confederation Park is another great outdoor spot to see some beautiful Christmas lights. Bring a mug of hot cocoa and stroll through the park while the massive light sets twinkle in the winter sky. Don’t forget to bring a sled for the kiddos, as the park has some great hills!
If all else fails, simply take a drive through one of the many festive neighbourhoods in Calgary and you are sure to find some incredible holiday light displays. Some locals even sync their lights up with a Christmas music radio station, so you can tune in and watch the magical show from the comfort of your car.
