Canada Day in Calgary

It’s time to celebrate Canada, and the city of Calgary has a great day lined up! This year’s free and family-friendly celebration features an Indigenous powwow, live music, performances, face painting, food trucks, the Cultural Carousel, and it all ends with the fireworks show above Stampede Park.
Main Stage Show
See the Main Stage Show at Prince’s Island Park for an all-Canadian lineup of music! Features include Micah Sage, Jamie Fine, Kardinal Offishall, Tia Wood, and Walk Off the Earth. Emcee Jason Tate will keep the show rolling all afternoon and evening. Also enjoy the playground, picnic spots, family-friendly beer garden, a low sensory space, and food vendors.
The Confluence
At The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland, see an Indigenous spotlight and Powwow with an Indigenous artisans market, teaching tipis, trappers tent, food vendors, and the Sport Calgary Sports Zone, which has inflatable soccer, luge, biathlon, and ski jumping.
Other Locations
Stop by Eau Claire Plaza for live entertainment such as music and dance, face painting, temporary tattoos, playground, urban beach with water feature, and food vendors. East Village also has airbrush tattoos and face painting along with members of Tourism Calgary and food vendors. The Municipal Building & Sien Lok Park will host cultural activities, a dragon walk, lion dance, cultural fashion show, Coke Canada booth, and more.
Local Celebrations
Many local businesses are hosting Canada Day celebrations as well. The National Music Centre is hosting a family-friendly celebration packed with Canadian music, culture, and live performances at the historic King Eddy. Spruce Meadows will have a free barbecue and a live concert featuring Brett Kissel. Heritage Park has a full day of live entertainment and hands-on fun for the while family, including a special afternoon tea.
Fireworks Finale
The grand finale is the fireworks display at approximately 11 pm. The show is launched from Stampede Park. The best viewing location is Max Bell Centre, where the parking lot will be open for fireworks viewing only. Scotsman’s Hill is another great viewpoint, and so are many other areas around downtown. Parking is limited, so walk to take transit if you can.
